Bar Harbor cruise port guide

Tenders, downtown walking, and how cruise passengers reach Acadia National Park.

Where ships arrive

Most large cruise ships anchor in Frenchman Bay and tender passengers to the Bar Harbor town pier. Smaller vessels may dock at the harbourfront. Downtown shops, the Shore Path, and whale-watch piers are walkable from typical tender landings.

Reaching Acadia

Acadia National Park is minutes by road but not walkable to major highlights from the pier. Organised shore excursions are the most reliable option for cruise passengers. Read our full Acadia from a cruise ship guide for distance, timing, and excursion advice.
